My husband and I were able to spend a wedding anniversary trip to Meadowview Mountain Lodge in October. We looked forward to a long weekend with just the two of us during our most favorite time of the year in the mountains.
The lodge was beautiful! So majestic! We came around the corner and there it was! The great room became our favorite! The sun comes in the 3-story windows that look out to Rocky Mountain National Park and the huge leather couches are warm with the sun – just heaven! I loved to spend time in there all morning and read! We didn’t use the large projection screen downstairs with just the two of us, but did enjoy watching a movie in the den on the main floor. So cozy and comfortable. There is a gas grill on a covered patio just off the kitchen and we grilled our dinner out there one night. We also relaxed as dinner was cooking on a large hammock under the patio. This place is huge! The lodge sits on several acres and we had the valley to ourselves! It was still and quiet! We could hear elk in the park bugling at night – just amazing!
There are endless trails around the lodge and in Rocky Mountain National Park. We decided to hike Green Mountain trail in the park. Easy hike and opened to a large meadow with mountains in the background. Super nice place to take photos and selfies! We also drove into the town of Grand Lake Village (5 miles?) and started on a trail head to the fire watch tower. This was an 11-mile round trip hike and was difficult. The fall colors however were outstanding! Reds, yellows, oranges! I highly recommend this hike! Right before dusk each night we would drive into the park to see wildlife. We came upon a 7x7 bull elk that was herding his cows to an open meadow. This bull elk was only 15 feet from our truck! We got the most amazing photos of him! I can’t believe the wildlife that was always present in this area – a must see!
We loved this weekend – one of our most favorite trips we’ve ever taken!
I went to the Meadowview Mountain Lodge with three girlfriends for a long weekend in the early fall. The foliage colors were amazing up there – even on the drive through Berthoud Pass. We wanted a quiet, non-tourist type place and this was perfect. The town of Grand Lake was not crowded and we went down to the marina to sit by the lake. Warm and relaxing.
The crisp fall air was exactly what we needed. This was perfect weather for hiking, walks, boating, and relaxing. We went hiking in Rocky Mountain National Park (just a 5 minute drive to the entrance) and saw a cow moose! We were within about 15 yards of her, took pictures, and then slowly backed up down the trail and headed back to the trailhead. We also took the paddle boat and canoe out on Meadowview’s private pond and relaxed in the sun.
Of course, cooking dinners in that gorgeous, fully-equipped kitchen was a dream! We couldn’t believe how beautiful the lodge was, along with its gorgeous and comfy furnishings!
The large TV room downstairs was so big, we decided to do yoga and then followed that up with time in the steam room and then watched a movie on the large projection screen.
One of the highlights of this trip was to sit on the porch at dusk and early evening and listen to a herd of elk bugling in the meadow right in front of us! It was non-stop and amazing! The wildlife up there was so raw and amazing!
We had the weekend of a lifetime and would love to go back there.

My wife and I hosted four co-workers and their families at the cabin for a winter corporate retreat.
My co-workers were in disbelief at how gorgeous and large the lodge was! The furnishings were just amazing! The bedrooms are comfortable and decorated beautifully. There is so much privacy with all the bedrooms and bathrooms available. This was important as we were co-workers and not used to spending “vacation” time together. Some even commented on how hot their shower was in the morning!
Our winter activities included sledding down the long driveway, snowmobiling, and snowshoeing on the endless trails around the lodge. We even snow-shoed from the lodge into Rocky Mountain National Park. We chose to snowshoe along the river in the trees, as we had some that didn’t want to go up and down hills. It was so quiet and still in the forest and beautiful with the snow falling! We saw a moose and a bull elk while snowshoeing too!
The steam room was so relaxing after being outside all day. The different game rooms offered everyone time to relax and be competitive! We had pool, foosball, Ping-Pong and shuffleboard mini tournaments all night.
The kitchen was perfect for having about 15 people there. The large dining table and extra chairs gave everyone a comfortable area to eat. The kitchen is fully equipped – which made meal planning/cooking so easy! Our favorite time up there was sitting in the great room – this is a massive great room – around the roaring fire and having hot chocolate! We even got the group to play charades together.
This was the perfect environment for team-building for a work group. Such a perfect place!!
